Bicycle Challenge Continues

With the wheels completed, this week I worked on the front end of the bicycle. First I began with the basket which was pretty simple. I drew it with Polyline and filleted the corners to create the wireframe of the basket. I then used the pipe command, followed by Boolean Union to join it all together.

I made the bottom piece as well as the attachment piece to finish off the basket. Because the original bike is welded together, there are many spots on that I've cleaned up. The basket was also crooked sort I straightened it out in my design.

Then next section I worked on was the handle bars. I started by created the vertical cylinder which would be called the head tube. The connectors for the other parts of the frame were the same width so I just copied them, measured to size and put in place. The screws used for the wheels are the same ones used for this piece so I just copied them over as well. I drew the stem which is the piece that looks like a straw, and then the rest of the handlebars along with the grips.

Next came the first half of the frame. I measured out the top tube, seat tube, and down tube. Once again I used the pipe tool to fill these out. I brought over some more connectors as well. I then built the forks. This bike has multiple on each wheel because they attach to a fender. I finished off by attaching all the pieces together. I'm definitely learning a lot about bike parts!!
